The woods between Cupramarittima and Ripatransone are a Site of Community Importance (SCI), extending over 1,223 hectares between the province of Ascoli Piceno and the municipalities of Ripatransone and Cupra Marittima. This natural environment is characterized by narrow, deep valleys that climb from the coast inland up to an altitude of 460 meters, through a landscape of fossil dunes and conglomerates. The woods, which have remained in good condition in the valleys, are dominated by holm oak, interspersed with Mediterranean scrub, garrigue, and steppe, with species such as myrtle, representing one of the rarest evergreen habitats in the area. A true natural gem of the area, perfect for hiking, trekking, and mountain biking, with easy, scenic itineraries accessible even to families.
