Built in 1304, the Palace of Podestà is one of the medieval symbols of Ripatransone, characterized by a seven-arched portico in Romanesque-Gothic style and the civic tower with its 1706 bell and 15th-century bell. Over the centuries, it has undergone numerous renovations, including the addition of the left wing in the 19th century and restorations of the façade for reasons of symmetry. The 43rd parallel passes through the tower, today commemorated by the Dream Point monument in Piazza XX Settembre. From 1790, the first floor of the building was transformed into a theater, inaugurated in 1824 as the Teatro del Leone and later named after the poet Luigi Mercantini. The interior, decorated by the Ruffini brothers with historical scenes and medallions dedicated to great Italian authors and musicians, is today an active cultural space with a capacity of approximately 150 seats.
