At the highest point of Ripatransone stands the ancient Pieve di San Niccolò, one of the oldest and most symbolic churches in the city. Its origins likely date back to the 9th century, as evidenced by the apse, while the sandstone portal dates back to the 15th century, and the interior underwent significant renovations in the 16th century. Once the hub of the community's religious life, the church is dedicated to several saints—Niccolò, Dionigi, Rustico, and Eleuterio—and has preserved the city's spiritual memory for centuries. Situated in a dominant position, it also represented a visual and symbolic reference point for the residents. Since 1899, it has no longer been used and is now privately owned, but it remains a precious testimony to the village's most ancient roots, evoking the continuity of faith and Ripatransone's history from the early Middle Ages to the present day.
